Synopsis

Set in modern-day Korea, Cancelling Patji follows the journey of two sisters as they navigate a landscape shaped by societal judgment and cultural expectations in the aftermath of the national Me Too Movement. Drawing from themes of justice, morality, and power rooted in folklore, the play explores how these timeless narratives echo in contemporary society. At its heart, it is a story of resilience, highlighting the strength found in love and mutual support.

synopsis

Traces the final 24 hours of Korea’s most beloved poet, Yun Dong-ju, before his death in 1945, the play questions, “What defines me as ‘me’?” as a diaspora’s point of view.

Caught between curiosity and longing, the story delves into what we need most to survive in a world marked by brutality.

With the international musical collaboration between Korean traditional musicians and Western contemporary music, this show shall offer a unique soundscape.
